Posted on

Keeping your floors clean is essential for maintaining a healthy beautiful home. Whether you're a seasoned cleaning pro or just starting out, knowing the right way to mop and how often to do it can make a big difference in the longevity and cleanliness of your floors.

Here's your beginners guide to mopping your floors using Nellie's WOW Mop and Nellie's Floor Care. You'll discover not only how to mop your floors effectively but also how often to do it to keep dirt, dust, and grime at bay.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

Before you start mopping, make sure you have all the right supplies. Here's what you'll need for the best results:

  • Nellie's WOW Mop: The lightweight, cordless, and user-friendly WOW Mop is designed for all types of floors, making mopping quicker and easier.
  • Nellie's Floor Care: This plant-based formula is tough on dirt but gentle on your floors, leaving them streak-free and smelling fresh without any toxic chemicals.
  • Warm Water: We recommend using a 1:3 ratio of Floor Care to water.
Step 2: Sweep or Vacuum First

Before mopping, make sure to sweep or vacuum the floors to remove dust, dirt, and debris. This step will make your mopping more efficient, preventing you from simply pushing dirt around.

Step 3: Prep the WOW Mop

The Nellie's WOW Mop takes all the hard work out of mopping. Here's how to get started:

  1. Attach the reusable WOW Mop Pads to the base.
  2. Fill the mops reservoir with Nellie's Floor Care solution.
  3. Turn the WOW Mop on, adjust the handle to a comfortable height, and get ready to mop!
Step 4: Mopping Technique

When using the WOW Mop, you don't need to push hard or scrub. The mop's motor will do the work for you! Simply glide the mop over the floor. For tougher spots, press the spray button on the mop handle to release a little extra Floor Care solution directly on the area.

The WOW Mop has a swivel head, which is perfect for getting into those hard-to-reach corners, under furniture, and around toilets. The reusable pads are planet friendly and can be tossed into the wash after use, saving you from unnecessary waste.

Step 5: How Often Should You Mop?

How often you mop your floors depends on the type of flooring and how much traffic your home gets.

  • High-Traffic Areas (kitchens, entryways, hallways): Aim to mop at least once a week. These areas collect the most dirt and grime, so a weekly mop will help maintain a clean, fresh surface.
  • Living Rooms & Bedrooms: Mopping every one-two weeks should suffice. These rooms typically see less foot traffic but can still accumulate dust and allergens.
  • Bathrooms: Aim to mop bathroom floors every week. Due to moisture and humidity, bathroom floors can quickly build up grime, especially around toilets and sinks.
  • Low-Traffic Rooms (guest rooms, formal dining rooms): You can get away with mopping these areas once a month or as needed.

Mopping doesn't have to be a tedious chore. By sticking to this schedule, you'll keep your floors in tip-top shape, avoiding the build-up of dirt, bacteria, and stains. Keeping your home looking and feeling cleaner year-round.
